Daniel J. Hodes
President, Cardinal Spellman High School

Dan grew up in Westerly RI attending the Prout School in Wakefield before starting his undergraduate and graduate studies. He attended Franciscan University of Steubenville OH, where he received two undergraduate degrees in 1998 and 1999 in Theology and Philosophy.

He started teaching that year but decided to take leave of his teaching career to pursue a vocation to the priesthood with the diocese of Providence. After completing his MA at Mount Saint Mary’s in Emmitsburg MD, Dan left the seminary to return to teaching and continue his graduate studies at Oxford, Providence, and Vanderbilt. He would go on to receive another MA from Providence college, complete an MBA certificate at Vanderbilt in Nashville, and finish all of his coursework for his doctorate in Theology. Dan has worked in the classroom and administration of Coyle and Cassidy, in Taunton MA, Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth RI and Marianapolis Prep in Thompson CT. Throughout this time he taught, Theology, History, English and Bioethics.

He has also done adjunct work at Salve Regina in Newport RI and Providence College. Dan moved full time into Administration at St. Henry School in Nashville as Vice Principal and at John Paul II High School also in Nashville as Director of External Affairs, and then as Principal of the Father Doyle School in RI before accepting the appointment as the fourth president of Cardinal Spellman High School.

When not attending to his duties for Spellman, Dan can be found chasing his children up and down the beach near their RI home. He and his wife Michelle have three children, Vincenza 8, Isaac 6, and Finn 5. In his spare time Dan enjoys good cinema, taking in a Pats game, dominating his fantasy football league, surfing, snowboarding, cooking, traveling, good company, and adding to his ever growing humidor.
